Eric Carle Collage

This is a collage using the same technique as Eric Carle did in his books. The first step was to create colorful painting that we could use in our storybook design. Once those were dry we sketched out our own storybook page and used the different colored paintings to make it.

This would be a great project to do with any artist. Make students aware of the different artists and their work. Explain each artist's style and let them try it on their own. For example, you could use the artist Andy Warhol and explain to the students why kind of art that he created and how he created it. Show them lots of examples and point out how his art is the same and how it is different. Then give students a chance to try making their own art like Andy Warhol.
